Stop Slots Maryland

The Special Legislative Session made major changes in state income, corporate, and sales taxes and in the state budget. It approved a referendum for 2008 to decide whether slots should be legalized.

Panelists gave their views on the special session, and answered attendee questions such as: How do all these changes add up? Did the burden fall on working Marylanders? How did social programs fare? What happened to progressive proposals, such as an income tax more heavily tilted toward the wealthy and a tax to ensure that corporations pay their fair share? What are the chances of defeating slots in 2008?
